INTEGRATEC'S
SYSTEM IN LUZ Y FUERZA DEL CENTRO
Luz y Fuerza is a state-owned utility that handles
all the power distribution to Mexico City and the metropolitan
area. It serves a population in excess of 23 million people.
Electricity is supplied by the Comisión Federal de Electricidad
(CFE) using a 400KV ring. LyF then uses 230KV, 115KV and 85KV
sub-rings to distribute the power to the urban 23KV system.
LYF handles the distribution using 214 sub-stations and has the
capacity to distribute up to 8,000MVW.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
Most of these sub-stations are old and not automated,
LyF has an ambitious program to modernize the infrastructure and
automate most of the operation at the sub-station level.
REALFLEX SOLUTION:
Integratec de México developed a solution for the
automation of sub-stations in LyF. This solution is based on the
RealFlex SCADA system and has been in use in several stations since
the mid 90s. There are three layers of control in the system, Integratec
is involved in the first two (see diagram). LyF has standardized
in Integratec's solution and now all new sub-stations that are being
added to the system include the Integratec system.
RESULTS:
LyF plans to automate up to 20 sub-stations
per year until the whole system is updated.
