PROBLEM DESCRIPTION AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: There was a requirement to collect Hydrological Data from various remote locations in the Bakun Dam area and to pass this data onto a Flood Forecast Model. This project was a joint venture between the governments of Malaysia and China. REALFLEX SOLUTION: The RTUS are located at remote sites and communicate to the control centre using Satellite communications or Radio, depending on the distance from the centre. They collect hourly rainfall data and river level data which is collected by the RealFlex servers and then passed onto the Flood Forecast model using the OPC protocol & multiple Flex View consoles. RESULTS: Operators are allowed to send controls to three flood warning sites downriver of the Dam location to alert local residents to any risk of local flooding.
